Grades

The letters to parents and students that begin each school year describe the grading procedures for each class.  Here are the letters for

English

Reading

A recurring major assignment in all of Mr. Desilets' English courses is the book report.

About once a week, usually on Monday, each student in Mr. Desilets' classes receives a complete, individual grade report, showing all graded assignments, the student's actual grades, and the student's average.

Students who miss graded activities because of absence should make up this work as soon as possible.  Until missed work is made up, the grade on the student's weekly report will appear as a zero.

Students may earn extra credit by completing substantial English activities beyond those that are assigned.  These include "reading-writing activities," book reports, public speaking presentations, essays, stories, and poems. The deadline for extra credit occurs two weeks before the end of each academic quarter.
